Cops get owned and shut down and that hurts their ego so they will make up stuff and or intimidate. When cops get owned they usually get angry and will retaliate and when their ego gets hurt they find it hard to just let it go and de-escalate. If you get the chance to educate the cops and let them know that you know your rights, most will not be happy and when cops are not happy they tend to make stuff up to intimidate members of the public.
