Motivated to take on a project like this? Use these stencil tips to help you tackle it with confidence.

First, know going into the project that you're going to do some touch-ups. A stencil like this doesn't give you a super clean reveal like tape does. When cutting your stencil, use a mat, a cork-backed straight-edge and a sharp blade to get clean cuts. Make sure you change out the blade several times. Pay extra attention when you're trimming back the laminate at the top and bottom because you really need those lines to be straight and level.

Once your stencil's ready, spray a light coat of repositionable adhesive on the back, and let it set-up for 30 seconds or so. Always check for level when you're applying the stencil. If you're not starting in a corner, mark your starting points on the wall, apply the stencil to the wall, using light pressure and check again that it's level.

Load your roller with paint, making sure the cover's evenly saturated, not dripping. Roll it on some paper towel or craft paper to get rid of excess before you roll the stencil. Then roll using light pressure. Don't push on the roller. It will force paint under the stencil.

The type of roller you use is important, these foam covers that are rounded at the end are less likely to catch on stencil edges. You may need to roll a couple coats to get the coverage you want, but remember a few light coats are better than one heavy one. Be careful not to roll past the edges of your stencil either. If you tend to be a sloppy painter, use extra tape to create a 'safe zone' for yourself.

If you don't feel like taking on a whole wall, we designed the stencils to be really modular so you can mix and match and get the look you like. Stack them for a simple block or build a stripe down your wall, or cut along the dotted lines and you can use individual words to create a cool border.

When you complete a block, simply peel away the stencils, realign them, and repeat the process. Then for touch-ups have a couple small brushes on hand.

So breathe, relax, and focus on the fun this project will add to your space. For more projects like this visit lowes.com/creative-ideas
