Sgt Ethan Newberg is the highest paid city employee in the 2019 fiscal year in Baltimore. (THATS INCLUDING THE MAYOR AND THE STATES ATTORNEY AS WELL AS THE POLICE CHIEF!) Newberg was also suspended in June without pay, so he actually could of had more. The fiscal year in Baltimore is July 1st - June 30th, and in 2018 he was the second highest paid that is including. He was able to attain those type of numbers because of overtime. Anything after 40 hours a week is overtime, Holidays are overtime & other special events the pay is usually time in a half. Something like 17 outta the 24 top paid Baltimore employees were Police officers. That includes EVERYONE that works for and gets paid by the city. Lawyers, Politicans, etc. The Sgt.'s and Lieutenant's are able to rack up such high numbers because they still get paid hourly, if they were to get bumped to Commander then they would be salary, and unable to make overtime. Baltimore is the 8th largest municipal police force with around 3.4 members. Compare that to Chicago which is the 2nd largest with 13.4K members. Newberry has been charged with 32 counts including 2nd degree assualt and illegal detainment. The charges are from 9 seperate incidents. After the Sgt. got suspended in June his body camera and reports where audited for the past year, and thats how they found the crimes. Newberg turned himself in on Dec.12 and posted a 200,000.00 bond. #DPNAROUNDTHECOUNTRY
